Tis the Season...of Giving

It seems that everyone finds themselves in the giving spirit this time of year.  I am no different, although I do try to remember that feeling throughout the year.  This weekend was full of giving.  It started with the Operation Happy Note packing party where we packed up instruments to send to soldiers serving over seas.  I was in charge of cards and coloring.  We created Christmas cards and colored pictures of the Operation Happy Note mascot.  Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures.  When the packing party was over some friends and I headed over to a benefit for a baby who left this world too soon.  I bid on a couple things at the silent auction and won!

Yesterday we spent the afternoon making 100 greeting cards for veterans at the hospitals in St. Cloud and Fargo.  This event was done by A.S.K. - Acts of Sincere Kindness.  We had a great afternoon filled with laughter, cocktails, and crafting.  The guys even got into it!

The giving doesn't stop there.  In a few weeks A.S.K. will be doing their annual Whobilation.  We all get dressed up as Whos (from the Grinch Who Stole Christmas) and bar hop asking for donations from the bar patrons.  The money goes to Jingle Bells, a local fundraiser for the Alexandria Jaycees.  They deliver toys and food baskets to area residents during the holidays.  We started this tradition last year and it was a hit.

In February A.S.K. is participating in the Polar Plunge.  We will be raising money for The Special Olympics MN and jumping into a frozen lake to show our support.  This year the team's theme is Prom.  That's right, we will be jumping into a frozen lake with formal dresses and suits.

You can show your support and help me raise money for either of these causes:

Whobilation: Please make a check to Katie Satterlie and mail donations to PO Box 94; Garfield, MN 56332.

Polar Plunge: Please donate to my team page, http://www.plungemn.org/plunger/katiesatterlie (or mail a check to the above address).

Thank you for your support and if you want to get involved with either of these events or events in the future, please send me an email at ksatterlie@gmail.com.
